Similar Days Tab

The Similar Days Tab provides summary information for the selected forecast day and similar days. Similar Days are only displayed after the Find Similar Days or Select Manual Similar Days actions (Schedule Actions) are invoked. The tab displays similar day information on two panels, Left Panel and Right Panel.

Two drop-down boxes control the date selection and the comparative weather concept

  • Date Selection. This selection box controls the forecast day for comparison.
  • Weather Concept Selection. This selection box controls the weather concept for viewing in the Right Panel chart.

Left Panel

The Left Panel displays a chart and grid for similar day load characteristics.

The Chart displays the following data series.

  • Forecast. This is the final Schedule or Contributor forecast including any manual edits.
  • Model. This series is the model results. Model results are the weighted sum of contributor models prior to user adjustments.
  • Similar Day. These series are the similar days resulting from the Find Similar Days actions (Schedule Actions) based on the Similar Day Settings.
  • Manual Day. This series is the similar day selected using the Select Manual Similar Days action (Schedule Actions).

These series may be toggled on or off using the check boxes in the upper right corner of the chart. Data points are viewed by selecting the chart and moving the mouse over the chart.

The Grid displays comparative load characteristics of the displayed data series. The displayed load characteristics are defined below.

  • DayType. Shows the day’s day type (e.g. Weekday or Weekend).
  • DOW. Shows the day’s day-of-week (e.g. Monday).
  • DOW Grouped. Shows the day’s day-of-week group, including holidays.
  • Rank. Shows the similar day’s ranking.
  • Total Dropout. Shows the difference between the Current Day AM Low and Prior Day PM Max (Current Day AM Low - Prior Day PM Max).
  • Cross Day Dropout. Shows the difference between the Current Day Beginning Value and Prior Day Ending Value (Current Day Beginning Value – Prior Day Ending Value).
  • AM Pickup. Shows the difference between the Current Day AM Max and Current Day AM Low (Current Day AM Max – Current Day AM Low).
  • Afternoon Dropout. Shows the difference between the Current Day PM Low and Current Day AM Max (Current Day PM Low – Current Day AM Max).
  • PM Max Less AM Max. Shows the difference between the Current Day PM Max and Current Day AM Max (Current Day PM Max – Current Day AM Max).
  • Evening Pickup. Shows the difference between the Current Day PM Max and Current Day PM Low (Current Day PM Max – Current Day PM Low).
  • Total Pickup. Shows the difference between the Current Day PM Max and Current Day AM Low (Current Day PM Max – Current Day AM Low).
  • Day Max Less PM Max. Shows the difference between the Current Day Max and Current Day PM Max (Current Day Max – Current Day PM Max).
  • Current Day Begin. Shows the Current Day Hour Ending 1 AM Value,
  • Current Day AM Min. Shows the minimum value over the morning (AM) min time range defined in the Similar Day Parameters, Daily Load Statistics Time Ranges.
  • Current Day AM Max. Shows the maximum value over the morning (AM) max time range defined in the Similar Day Parameters, Daily Load Statistics Time Ranges.
  • Current Day PM Min. Shows the minimum value over the evening (PM) min time range defined in the Similar Day Parameters, Daily Load Statistics Time Ranges.
  • Current Day PM Max. Shows the maximum value over the evening (PM) max time range defined in the Similar Day Parameters, Daily Load Statistics Time Ranges.
  • Current Day Min. Shows the overall current day minimum.
  • Current Day Max. Shows the overall current day maximum.
  • Current Day Avg. Shows the overall current day average.
  • Current Day Total. Shows the sum across all intervals for the day.
  • Prior Day End. Shows the value at hour ending midnight of the Prior Day.
  • Prior Day AM Min. Shows the minimum value over the morning (AM) min time range defined in the Similar Day Parameters, Daily Load Statistics Time Ranges.
  • Prior Day AM Max. Shows the maximum value over the morning (AM) max time range defined in the Similar Day Parameters, Daily Load Statistics Time Ranges.
  • Prior Day PM Min. Shows the minimum value over the evening (PM) min time range defined in the Similar Day Parameters, Daily Load Statistics Time Ranges.
  • Prior Day PM Max. Shows the maximum value over the evening (PM) max time range defined in the Similar Day Parameters, Daily Load Statistics Time Ranges.
  • Prior Day Min. Shows the overall prior day minimum.
  • Prior Day Max. Shows the overall prior day maximum.
  • Prior Day Avg. Shows the overall prior day average.
  • Prior Day Total. Sum across all intervals for the prior day.

Right Panel

The Right Panel displays a chart and grid for similar day weather characteristics.

The Chart displays the hourly weather data based on the Weather Concept Selection box for the forecast date, Similar Days, and Manual Day. These series may be toggled on or off using the check boxes in the upper right corner of the chart. Data points are viewed by selecting the chart and moving the mouse over the chart.

The Grid displays comparative weather statistics of the similar days. The grids do not change based on the Weather Concept Selection. The displayed characteristics are defined below.

  • DayType. Shows the day’s day type.
  • DOW. Shows the day’s day-of-week.
  • DOW Grouped. Shows the day’s day-of-week group.
  • Rank. Shows the similar day’s ranking.
  • Current Day DB High. Shows the Max Dry Bulb temperature for the current day.
  • Current Day DB Low. Shows the Min Dry Bulb temperature for the current day.
  • Current Day DB Avg. Shows the Average Dry Bulb temperature for the current day.
  • Current Day DB 4. Shows the Dry Bulb temperature at 4 AM of the current day.
  • Current Day DB 10. Shows the Dry Bulb temperature at 10 AM. of the current day.
  • Current Day DB 16. Shows the Dry Bulb temperature at 4 PM of the current day.
  • Current Day DB 22. Shows the Dry Bulb temperature at 10 PM of the current day.
  • Current Day DP Avg. Shows the Average Dew Point temperature for the current day.
  • Current Day WS Avg. Shows the Average Wind Speed for the current day.
  • Current Day CC Avg. Shows the Average Cloud Cover for the current day.
  • Current Day ET Avg. Shows the Average Effective Temperature for the current day.
  • Current Day GHI Avg (10-2). Shows the Average Global Horizontal Irradiance between the hours of 10 AM to 2 PM for the current day. For computing the average, the weather concept assigned the SolarRadiation stock concept ID is used, if defined. If not defined, the weather concept assigned the Illumination stock concept ID is used.

  • Current Day HI Avg. Shows the Average Heat Index for the current day.
  • Current Day WC Avg. Shows the Average WindChill for the current day.
  • Prior Day DB High. Shows the Max Dry Bulb temperature for the Prior Day.
  • Prior Day DB Low. Shows the Min Dry Bulb temperature for the Prior Day.
  • Prior Day DB Avg. Shows the Average Dry Bulb temperature for the Prior Day.
  • Prior Day DB 4. Shows the Dry Bulb temperature at 4 AM of the Prior Day.
  • Prior Day DB 10. Shows the Dry Bulb temperature at 10 AM of the Prior Day.
  • Prior Day DB 16. Shows the Dry Bulb temperature at 4 AM of the Prior Day.
  • Prior Day DB 22. Shows the Dry Bulb temperature at 10 PM of the Prior Day.
  • Prior Day DP Avg. Shows the Average Dew Point temperature for the Prior Day.
  • Prior Day WS Avg. Shows the Average Wind Speed for the Prior Day.
  • Prior Day CC Avg. Shows the Average Cloud Cover for the Prior Day.
  • Prior Day ET Avg. Shows the Average Effective Temperature for the Prior Day.
  • Prior Day IL Avg. Shows the Average Illumination for the Prior day.
  • Prior Day HI Avg. Shows the Average Heat Index for the Prior day.
  • Prior Day WC Avg. Shows the Average WindChill for the Prior day.
