Manage Weight Sets

Weights Sets are used in the Models Module to control three distinct forecast options. The forecast options include (1) configuration and weighting of multiple forecasts based on defined combinations of a weather provider and an XDriver scenario, (2) managing Back Calibration tuning weights, and (3) designing Forward Calibration Blending weights. The Manage Weight Sets dialog can be opened from the Manage Weight Sets option on the Tools menu or from the General Tab of the Model Properties dialog. The Manage Weight sets dialog contains three tabs.

  • Model Forecast Tab. This tab allows the user to define lists of forecast scenarios to be run when a model forecast is executed, as well as forecast weights that can be used to combine these scenarios. Beginning in version 7.0, the user forecast scenarios inputs include alternative weather provider forecasts and XDriver scenarios. Prior versions did not include the capability to reference XDriver scenarios.
  • Back Calibration Tab. This tab allows the user to add and manage daily lag weights that are used when Back Calibration (Back Calibration on page 212) is applied. Once a weight set is created, weights may be entered manually or calculated using the Compute Calibration Weights action.
  • Blending Tab. This tab allows the user to add and manage hourly weights that are used to combine hour ahead and day ahead model forecasts based on the number of periods ahead of the last actual value. These weights are only used in conjunction with custom models that support blending by including a set of Hour Ahead models and a set of Day Ahead models.

Actions

The following common actions are available on the Toolbar.

The following action is only available on the Back Calibration Tab and is used to calculate the back calibration weights.

  • Compute Calibration Weights.
