Show Dependents
When an item in a list is used in another part of the system, this is called a dependency. For example, if a Meter is used in a Model, the Model depends on the Meter. On a list tab, select the item(s) you wish to analyze and select the Show Dependents option from the Tools menu or click the corresponding Toolbar button. This brings up the Dependents dialog.
- The title of this dialog will change based upon the module from which the dialog is accessed. For example, when viewed from the Meter module, the title displays as "Meter Dependents."
- The toolbar contains a drop-down list that will show the selected item and will allow you to move through the list of items by selecting from the drop down or by using the previous and next buttons that bracket the drop down.
- The body of the Dependents dialog shows the list of dependent items. The Type, Node ID, and Description fields identify the item in the system which depends on the select item or items.
- Clicking the button to the right of the combo-box will navigate to the tab showing the object’s contribution, directly to the line item of the combo box selection.
- The last button on the toolbar is the Navigate To button. To use this button, select the item in the list of dependent items that you wish to view. Press the Navigate To button. The user interface will go switch to the Library view in the module that contains the dependent item. The dependent item will be selected in this list.
