Pre-Configured XDriver Concepts

Delivered systems typically include a set of pre-configured XDriver concepts. These concepts are listed below.

  • Standard XDriver. This XDriver Concept is used as an explanatory variable in a custom model.
  • XDriver Adder. This XDriver Concept is used as an adder to a model-based forecast.
  • XDriver Multiplier. This XDriver Concept is used as a multiplier to a model-based forecast.
  • XDriver Override. This XDriver Concept is used to override (replace) a forecast.
  • Model-Based XDriver. This XDriver Concept stores the forecast from a model which may be used as a driver in a different model.

Creating and Managing New XDriver Concepts

New XDriver concepts may be created by selecting the Add button on the toolbar. The command creates a new XDriver line which requires configuration by filling in the characteristic columns. The characteristics are defined below. Starting with version 7.2, XDriver Concepts can also be added using standard a standard list import.

  • XDriverConceptID. This field is the name used to identify the XDriver Concept. The name should be unique. If the XDriverConcept is used in a custom model as an independent variable, the XDriverConceptID is the name of the associated DataTable in MetrixND. The user must add this Data Table in the MetrixND template. To automatically add the XDriver concept into a MetrixND template, use the Insert Contributor button, select the MetrixND template, and the XDriver Concept is automatically added as a Data Table to the MetrixND template. Use the Remove Contributor button to remove the Data Table with the same name as the XDriver Concept from the selected templates. Due to naming restrictions in MetrixND, the XDriver Concept ID should adhere to the following naming characteristics:
    • No spaces in the name.
    • Do not start with a number.
    • Do not include any special characters (e.g. $, @, *, …).
  • Description. The XDriver Concept ID description text.
  • ImportID. Text string used to assign import records to XDriver Concept at the time of list import.
  • Type. Periodicity of the XDriver Concept (Daily, 60, 30, 15, 10, and 5).
  • UOM. The units of measure for the XDriver. This is a descriptive field and not used to manage data conversion.
  • Extend. This field sets the default for all XDrivers associated with this concept. When this box is checked, missing data are filled with the last actual data point. When this box is not checked, any missing data will remain missing in the database.
  • IsAdder. Explicitly identifies the XDriver Concept as an Adder. Contributors are not used when this item is selected.
  • IsMultiplier. Explicitly identifies the XDriver Concept as a Multiplier. Contributors are not used when this item is selected.
  • IsOverride. Explicitly identifies the XDriver Concept as an Override. Contributors are not used when this item is selected.
  • IsModel. Explicitly identifies the XDriver Concept as a Model-Based XDriver. Contributors may be used when this item is selected.
  • Invert. When checked, the values for XDriver are inverted (1/x) before being applied.
  • Display Order. The display order controls the order in which the XDriver concepts are shown.
  • Prefix. This field is used by the Client List Importer and specifies a prefix to the ImportID field.
  • Suffix. This field is used by the Client List Importer and specifies a suffix to the ImportID field.
  • Delimiter. This field is used by the Client List Importer and the delimiter character to parse the import field.
  • CreateIfNotFound. This field is used by the Client List Importer and creates the XDriverConceptID when the XDriverConceptID is not found in the Configuration Dialog.
