Add Compare Tool

Instead of individually adding contributors, the groups of contributors may be simultaneously added using the Add Compare Tool. The tool may be used for Weather Station, Weather Zone or Schedule contributors. The Add Compare Tool is accessed by from the Tools menu or the Add Compare Tool button on the toolbar.

Selecting the Add Compare Tool brings up the browse dialog. The dialog displays a list of Schedules, Weather Stations, and Weather Zones. For Schedules, a single Comparison will be created for each selected Schedule. For Weather Stations and Weather Zones, a single Comparison will be created for each Weather Station/Zone and Weather Concept combination. To add multiple contributors, highlight the contributors and select Add Selected. All contributors may be added by selecting Add All.

After selecting the contributors, the Add Compare dialog is displayed. The following fields may be configured through the Add Compare Dialog:

  • Compare ID Prefix. The prefix to use for the Compare ID. By default, the Compare ID will be set to the ID of the item the Comparison is created for (Weather Station, Weather Zone, or Schedule).
  • Compare ID Suffix. The suffix to use for the Compare ID. By default, the Compare ID will be set to the ID of the item the Comparison is created for (Weather Station, Weather Zone, or Schedule).
  • Description Prefix. The prefix to use for the Description. By default, the Description will be set to the Description of the item the Comparison is created for (Weather Station, Weather Zone, or Schedule).
  • Description Suffix. The suffix to use for the Description. By default, the Description will be set to the Description of the item the Comparison is created for (Weather Station, Weather Zone, or Schedule).
  • Date Range. Identifies the date range for the comparison. Drop down values in this cell allow the user to re-define the date range. Date range options include: Today; Short Term; Current Week; Current Month; Prior Month; Last Week; Last 7 Days; Last 14 Days; Month to Date; Year to Date; Custom; Automatic-Union; Automatic-Intersect, and Relative.
  • Start Date. This setting is used in conjunction with the Date Range, Custom, setting. The Start Date defined by the user for the Custom Date Range.
  • End Date. This setting is used in conjunction with the Date Range, Custom, setting. The End Date defined by the user for the Custom Date Range.
  • Relative Start Date. This setting is used in conjunction with the Date Range, Relative, setting. The number of days from the current day to start the. A negative number indicates days prior to the current day.
  • Relative End Date. This setting is used in conjunction with the Date Range, Relative, setting. The number of days from the current day to end the compare. A negative number indicates days prior to the current day.
  • Use Load Control Data. If this field is selected, data marked as load control is used when calculating statistics for the compare report. If it is not selected, data marked as load control is not used in calculations.
  • Use Load Event Data. If this field is selected, data marked as load event is used when calculating statistics for the compare report. If it is not selected, data marked as load event is not used in calculations.
  • Use Bad Data. If this field is selected, data marked as bad is used when calculating statistics for the compare report. If it is not selected, data marked as bad is not used in calculations.
  • Use Incomplete Data. If this field is selected, data marked as incomplete is used when calculating statistics for the compare report. If it is not selected, data marked as incomplete is not used in calculations.
  • Data Type. This specifies what data type(s) to assign as contributors in the Comparison. For Schedules, the options are History, Estimated, Forecast, Published, and Medium Term Forecast. For Weather Stations and Weather Zones, the options are History and Forecast. A contributor for each selected data type will be assigned to the Comparison.
  • Label. This is a custom text description field for each contributor.
  • Base. Indicates the series relative to which comparison statistics should be computed. By default, this is set for the History data type.
  • Line Color. Displays the color of the series in the charts on the Data and Statistics tabs.
  • Display Order. Determines the order the contributors will appear on the Compare Tab.
  • Published BOD. Set the rule for the Published series when the contributor is a Schedule and the data type is Published.

In addition to the above fields, the Add Compare dialog contains the following four tabs in the lower left corner.

  • Archive Rules. The Archive Rules tab contains the list of Archive Rules that have the selected item(s) as a contributor. A contributor for each selected Archive Rule will be assigned to the Comparison.
  • Backcast Rules. The Backcast Rules tab contains the list of Backcast Rules that have the selected item(s) as a contributor. This tab is only active when creating Comparisons for Schedules. A contributor for each selected Backcast Rule will be assigned to the Comparison.
  • Weather. The Weather tab contains the list of Weather Forecasts and Weather Concepts in the system. This tab is only active when creating Comparisons for Weather Stations or Weather Zones. A single Comparison will be created for each Weather Station/Zone and Weather Concept combination. A contributor for each selected Weather Forecast will be assigned to the Comparison.
  • Medium Term. The Medium Term tab contains the list of Medium Term Scenarios that have the selected item(s) as a contributor. This tab only active when creating Comparisons for Schedules. A contributor for each selected Medium Term will be assigned to the Comparison.
