Import data manager
Import data manager (IDM) controls how interval and register data is managed in IEE. All meter data that is sent upstream to IEE is received by IDM and is routed based on the defined configuration of the data routing program.
Use a data routing program when you want to route different units of measure in unique directions. For a single service point, revenue data, which is primarily used for billing, can be routed in the following ways:
-
For immediate export to other applications such as Itron Analytics before it is imported into Meter Data Management (MDM) for bill processing.
-
For Standard Reading Import -Enhanced (SRI-E) processing, by-passing AMI Reading Import (ARI) processing.
-
For discard. Discard allows you to get rid of data that you do not want imported into IEE, for better management of database storage.
Data that fails import for various reasons, is banked in the Banked Data Queue. From this IDM user interface, the banked data can be viewed, sorted by the reason for banking, and managed. Once you correct the reason for banking, IDM automatically resubmits the data for import.
In addition to traditional revenue data that is used for billing, smart meters collect data for various metrics. This is referred to as monitoring data. IDM offers a monitoring data program to route this non-revenue data from the meter to a directory where an external system such as Itron Analytics can receive it. Monitoring data is never validated or imported into MDM. Import Data Manager collects and normalizes monitoring data without impacting system performance of your billing processes. To route monitoring data for export, configure both a data routing program and a monitoring data program.
