Program-based configuration

Configuration programs store properties that are common to large numbers of configuration entities. For example, a meter program defines the interval length for a meter channel as 15 minutes. All meters assigned to that meter program inherit the interval length of 15 minutes.

Note: You must have the necessary security role permissions to create, edit, or view program configurations. For more information, see User role permissions: Descriptions and Configuring user permissions.

IEE provides the following types of configuration programs:

  • Meter
  • Service Point
  • Account
  • Data Routing
  • Monitoring Data

Link programs together to define all of the physical, logical, and business properties for the associated configuration entities in bulk.

Manage configuration programs by using the program-based configuration XML API or the Program Configuration Manager user interface. For more information, see Program configuration manager. To update the IEE database when a meter has been switched out in the field, use the Meter Swap user interface. For more information, see Meter swap (program-based).
