SAE Sets Workspace

Once sectors and end uses have been defined through Tools>SAE Configuration and end-use data for shares efficiencies, and monthly factors have been populated through Tools>SAE End-Use Data, End-Use Sets are defined to combine the data into a complete grouping that can be used in a Model. In the SAE Set module, the main form has four tabs. The first tab provides access to SAE Set input assignments and parameters. The remaining tabs provide review screens showing the end-use variable calculation results implied by the SAE Set inputs.

  • List Tab. This tab contains the list of SAE Sets in the Library or selected Folder. For each item in the list, expansion provides an embedded list with three subtabs that are provide access to SAE Set input assignments and parameter values.
  • Scenarios Subtab. This subtab contains the list of scenarios available with the SAE Set. Each scenario has assignments for Share, Efficiency, Monthly Factor, and Coincidence Factor data to use.
  • Base-Year UEC Subtab. This subtab contains the base-year UEC values for each use.
  • Economic Drivers Subtab. This subtab contains the assignment of economic drivers to each sector, and defines the type (UPC or Scale) and elasticities for each driver.
  • Intensities Tab. This intensities tab allows the user to review the model variables that are calculated from the assigned inputs and parameters. Data can be viewed in monthly or annual modes. Concepts that can be reviewed are shares, efficiencies, energy intensities, and end-use energy amounts.
  • Economics Tab. This tab shows the time path for economic drivers assigned to a scenario and shows how these combine through elasticities for each sector.
  • Model Vars Tab. This subtab shows the time path for the final model variables for each sector and end-use group.

Properties Dialog. The key properties of the SAE Set are accessed through the Edit button. This brings up the Long Term SAE Set Properties dialog. Sector weights and technology base year data are set here. Sector weights indicate the relative energy levels of the end-use sectors. The Edit button is available from all four tabs of the SAE Set module.
