Base-Year UEC Subtab
On the List Tab, when a SAE Set row is selected and expanded, an embedded set of subtabs is shown. The second is the Base-Year UEC subtab. This allows the user to view and modify unit energy consumption (UEC) values for end uses. The tab provides one line for each end-use defined in End-Use List. The values entered annual energy use for the end-use or technology in a way that is consistent with the calculations for each Sector. Recommended definitions for these variables are:
- Residential. Enter UEC values in annual KWh per home if shares indicate the presence of an end use and in KWh per appliance if shares represent device densities. The product of Share and UEC will then be energy intensity (KWh per home) in the base year.
- Commercial. Enter UEC values in annual KWh per thousand square feet of floorspace. The product of Share and UEC will then be KWh per thousand square feet.
- Industrial. Enter UEC values in annual KWh per thousand square feet or per employee, or per thousand dollars of output.
- Generation Technologies. Enter UEC values in Annual KWh generated per KW of capacity. In the technology base year, this value will be multiplied by the Stock value (KW capacity), giving annual energy generated.
- New Use Technologies. Enter UEC values in Annual KWh per unit. For example for electric vehicles, enter the UEC as KWh per vehicle. In the technology base year, this value will be the Stock value (number of vehicles), giving annual energy use.
The Base-Year UEC subtab provides the following fields.
- Sector. The name of the Sector. This is controlled by the Sector List and cannot be edited here.
- End-Use. The name of the end use. This is controlled by the End-Use List and cannot be edited here.
- Model Var. The name of the model variable to which the end use will contribute (XHeat, XCool, XOther, GenTech, NewTech). This is controlled by the End-Use List and cannot be edited here.
- UEC. The base year or technology base year UEC value, giving annual KWh per unit for the sector.
The embedded list in the UEC subtab has standard functionality to drag a column into the Group-By bar and to then use the bar to filter the data, for example by to group end-uses by Sector or by Model Var. Grouping by End Use will not be useful, since end-use names must be unique.
The embedded data list can be used to edit data, but this must be done one row at a time. These values can also be edited through the Import Wizard, using:
- Tools > Import > Long Term SAE End Use > Base-Year UEC
