Service Management

The Service management tab provides information about the services registered in the environment and enables you to manage MTS services and processes.

Note:  The table can be sorted by any column by clicking the desired column header. By default, the table is sorted by Server (primary sort) and Service (secondary sort).

The table consists of the following columns:

  • Server. Host name of the server on which the service is running.
  • Service. MTS app server service, MTS gateway service, MTS utility service, or MTS health-check service.
  • Status. The current state of the service (see the Status descriptions below).
  • Heartbeat date. The last successful ping to and from the service, indicating whether the service (or server) is online. This value is displayed in the local date and time format (to the second).
  • Actions (). This menu provides the following options for any or all selected rows:
    • Start service. Changes the selected service to the ACTIVE state. This option is enabled only when all selected services are in either the INACTIVE or SURPLUS state.
    • Stop service. Changes the selected service to the INACTIVE state. This option is enabled only when all selected services are in the INACTIVE state.
  • Go to configuration details (). For the service listed on this row, click the arrow to navigate to the Service Management–Service screen, where you can add, start, and stop the processes hosted by the service. See Service Management–Service.

Tip:  To filter the table, click the filter icon () to open a dialog box. From here, you can select any of the available known values listed by Status.

The Status of each service instance displays as one of four possibilities:

  • ACTIVE. The service has been started and is running.
  • INACTIVE. The service has been stopped.
  • SURPLUS. This occurs when a new service instance is created that results in the total number of instances exceeding the maximum allowed number. While in this state, the services can be configured but cannot start any of the processes.
  • SHUTDOWN. The service is not running and needs to be physically started from the server.

Note:  The maximum number of service instances can be modified on the Service Type Setup tab.
