Service Type Setup

The Service type setup tab displays services statuses and the current number of instances for each status. For status descriptions, see Service Management.

Note:  The table can be sorted by any column by clicking the desired column header. By default, the table is sorted in alphabetical order by Service type.

The table consists of the following columns:

  • Service type. The name of the service.
  • Active. The number of active instances of this service.
  • Surplus. The number of surplus instances of this service. When this value is not zero, it is displayed in red.
  • Inactive. The number of inactive instances of this service.
  • Shutdown. The number of shutdown instances of this service
  • Maximum instances. The maximum number of active instances of this service that can be configured across all the MTS servers. For example, if MTS is running on three servers and the Maximum instances is set to 3, then one instance could run on each of three servers, or three instances could run on one server.

To modify the maximum number of instances of a service type, click Edit () on the same row as the service type. In the dialog box that appears, edit the Maximum instances value and then click Update.

Important!  The Maximum instances value cannot be lower than the current number of Active instances shown in the Service type setup table. Note that the Edit action is available only to user personas with the “Create and Manage Service Types” grant.
