Upgrade commands and procedures

During the upgrade process, each installation script identifies whether it will perform an upgrade by looking for any existing services installed on the current machine. Each MSI uninstalls the old version of the service and installs the new version.

Caution: Do not run MSI installers to upgrade IMS core and adapter services, as this will damage the service configuration. Do not run MSI installers at any point after installing or upgrading IMS services, as this may corrupt the cache.

Perform the following steps to upgrade IMS core services, adapter services, and monitoring UI in the correct order. Log on to the server using the Domain Service Account credentials.

Important! For each step, read through all topics in the linked sections before you begin. Be sure to update the installation config JSON files as required.

  1. Upgrade the IMS core services as described in Installing core services.

  2. Upgrade the IMS adapter services as described in Installing adapter services.

  3. Upgrade the Monitoring UI as described in Installing the Monitoring UI.

Note: Stopping the services is not required prior to running upgrade commands, as the installation process will take care of this. However, you can stop the services to prevent IMS from receiving new messages, which may cause errors.
