Meter swap
Accessible from the main menu under Configuration, the Meter swap interface provides a workflow that enables users to update the IEE database to reflect meter replacements in the box.
Note: To access the Meter swap interface, users must have the Edit Customer Configuration permission in IEE.
This workflow provides the ability to resolve meter-swap exceptions that require data corrections (including estimated read data), thus minimizing disruptions to the billing process.
Each meter swap must meet the following requirements:
-
Configuration. The new meter configuration must match the existing service point configuration for the swap to be saved in the database.
-
Compatibility. Only compatible meters and service points can be linked together. For example, meters with 15-minute channels can link only to service points that have compatible 15-minute channels.
-
Interval. When a meter swap results in a change of interval, you must also update the service point configuration with the corresponding start time.
-
Unit of measure (UOM). The UOMs of the meter channels and the service point channels must match.
-
Data routing program. The data routing program does not change during a meter swap. It is associated with the service point program. During a meter swap, the data routing program that is associated with the service point instance does not change, provided that the service point program does not change. If the service point program changes, the default data routing program that is specified on the new service point program is used. You can change the data routing program at the service point instance level if necessary.
Important! The swap process requires that both the old meter and the new meter already exist in the IEE database.
The Meter swap interface does not support swaps in the following scenarios:
-
A program-based configuration (PBC) meter is swapped with an advanced configuration meter.
-
The new meter is not compatible with the service point program.
-
The new meter's market type is not compatible with the old meter's market type (such as electric to gas).
-
The swap date overlaps with the previous version of the old meter.
The following swap operations are supported:
