Discarding event codes

Use the Discard option to reduce the number of event records for unwanted events. Discard event types that you do not want to import into the IEE.

It is not necessary to reprogram meter firmware to avoid unwanted events. Future events mapped to Discard are not imported into IEE. In the case where a meter records duplicate events, the duplicate events are automatically discarded. For more information, see Duplicate events.

Caution: Discarded events are not imported; therefore, they are not recoverable.

If a meter is configured to store an event as a device event as well as an alarm, then only the alarm event is stored in the database.

You can configure IEE to automatically discard specific external system events by mapping the Discard event code to a specific external system. Any external event code mapped to Discard is discarded immediately before import. For more information, see Adding event code mappings.

1. Go to Device Events >Tools > Event Codes Mapping.

2. Click the event code that you want to select.

   Use the CTRL and SHIFT keys to select multiple event codes.

3. At the bottom of the pane, click Discard.

   A Confirm dialog appears.

4. Click Yes to confirm or No to cancel the change.

5. Click Save to save the change.
