Adding event code mappings

Use Event Code Mapping to map event codes from external systems to internal IEE event codes.

Note: IEE provides a set of scripts you should use to map your external system codes to the IEE event codes. The event code mapping in the GUI is intended for isolated instances where an event code mapping must be changed or set to Discard. When you rely on the IEE scripts to set the event code mappings, your mappings are easily updated when Itron provides an updated script with new event codes. For more information about event code mapping scripts, see the IEE Configuration Guide.

  1. Go to Device Events >Tools > Event Code Mappings.

  2. Click Add.

  3. In the New Mapping Info dialog, enter the following:

    • External Event Code. Enter the exact value of the event code used by the external system.

    • External Description. Enter a description for the external event. Any edits you make in this dialog will appear in the External Description column of the Events Code Mapping screen.

    • External System. Select the external system for the dropdown menu.

    • Event Code. Select the IEE event code that this external code maps to. IEE provides a list of event codes with your installation.

Note: You can automatically discard events that are coming from a specific external system, by mapping the Discard event code to that system. For more information about Discard, see Discarding event codes.

    • Description. The IEE description for this event code automatically appears in this field. This field cannot be edited from here.

    • Category. The default IEE category automatically appears in this field. This field cannot be edited from here. Contact your Itron representative if you need to modify a category.

  4. Click OK to add the mapping to the list.

  5. From the main Event Code Mapping screen, click Save to save the new mappings.
