Monitoring data program
The monitoring data program is used with a data routing program to route monitoring data to an output directory for use with another application. This data is normalized and verified, but it is not stored in Meter Data Management (MDM). A service point channel number is required for proper addressing; however, the service point channel number does not need to match the service point channel number used in the entity hierarchy within MDM.
Accessing the Monitoring Data Dialog
- Go to Meter Data Management > Application Data > Program Based Configuration > Program Configuration Manager.
- Click the Monitoring Data tab.
- From the Monitoring Data tab, you can do the following:
Create a New Program
Create a monitoring data program that specifies routing configuration information for one or more channels of interval or register data.
Creating a New Monitoring Data Program- Go to Meter Data Management > Application Data > Program Based Configuration > Program Configuration Manager.
- Click the Monitoring Data tab.
- Click New.
Definitions for all entity types can be found in the IEE Program-Based Configuration XML API Guide.

Copy a Program
You can copy an existing monitoring data program to create a new program.
- Go to Meter Data Management > Application Data > Program Based Configuration > Program Configuration Manager.
- Select the Monitoring Data tab.
- Select a monitoring data program from the list and click Copy.
The Monitoring Data Program dialog appears.
- Enter a new Program ID and Description.

Define a Default Program
You can specify a monitoring data program for all meter channel instance assignments. This removes the need to specify the monitoring data program during each meter channel assignment. Defining a default monitoring data program is optional, and when a default program is specified, you can overwrite that choice by specifying a different monitoring data program during the meter instance assignment.
To specify a default monitoring data program for future meter instance assignments:
- Create a Data routing program or verify that the program exists.
- Create a Monitoring data program or verify that the program exists.
- Create a Creating a meter program from the Program Configuration Manager screen, or access an existing program.
The Meter Program dialog appears.
- From the Meter Program dialog, specify the default monitoring data program in the MonitoringData Program field.
- Click Save or Save & Close to save the program.
The default monitoring data program that you specified here is displayed on the Configuration Maintenance >Meter View in the Monitoring Data Program field.
You can override the default program assignment at the instance level. For more information, see Overriding the default monitoring data program selection.
Modify a Program
You may use an existing program as a starting point for creating a new program. To find an existing program, use the Filter/search option.
To edit a monitoring data program:
- Go to Meter Data Management > Application Data > Program Based Configuration > Program Configuration Manager.
- Select an existing monitoring data program from the list and click Edit.
The Monitoring Data Program dialog appears. You can modify the program description and one or more program channels.
Caution: If a monitoring data program is assigned to a meter instance, changes to the program will not be validated against the parameters specified in the meter instance configuration. If a mismatch occurs, the monitoring data program functionality will not be performed.
- Select a monitoring data program channel and click Edit.
The Monitoring Data Program Channel dialog appears. You can modify any of the fields on this screen. For more information about these fields see, Configuring a monitoring data program channel.
