Direct HHF import adapter
Use the Direct HHF Import Adapter to import MV-90 xi or PROFILE type HHF files. This includes HHF files created by Itron products such as MV-RS, FCS, MVP, MVLT, and MVLT xi, as well as HHF files created by other third party data collection systems. Direct HHF imports interval data and register reads associated with each interval channel and meter event data.
The task template defines the parameters for automatically importing data into IEE. You can also use it to manually import HHF files using the Task Scheduler.
Note: The Direct HHF import limits the import of data to three years from the imported data end time to be within UCE’s max validation range. IEE truncates data if importing more than three years and handles delete overlaps, making sure to import complete/contiguous readings, splitting into several reading groups if necessary.
Use the following procedure to configure a task template:
-
Go to System Operations > Task Management > Task Templates.
-
Use the dropdown menu to select the Task Type and Task Template. (Click Add to create a new task template. For more information, see Adding task templates.)
-
Configure the Task specific parameters. These parameters are defined after step 5 of this procedure.
-
Configure the Common task template parameters. For more information, see Task template parameters.
-
Click Save.
Task specific parameters:
HHF File Name
If accessed from the task templates user interface this field is not active, since it defines the automatic settings to import any PROFILE or HHF type file that is dropped into the import directory and matches the file mask settings defined by this template.
If accessed from the Task Scheduler, the HHF Filename specifies the name of the HHF file to manually import. This file can be in a local directory on the client or in a network share. It automatically moves to the Import Directory for HHF file for processing with the task parameters specified.
External System
Defines any external system to which IEE configuration data can be associated. In many places this parameter provides you with the dropdown menu to select from the external systems configured in the External System table.
Import User
Defines the user ID associated with a task. By default, this field populates with the user currently logged into the system.
File Mask
Defines a file extension or a partial file name that IEE uses to monitor import directories and create export files. Enter a file mask such as .xml when configuring an import or export task template. When a file arrives in the import directory, IEE automatically schedules the file for import if it matches the mask. IEE ignores files that do not match the file mask. When creating an export file, IEE appends this mask to the file name.
Import Directory
Defines the folder that IEE monitors for incoming files. IEE automatically schedules files that arrive in this directory for import. You define the paths to default import directories in the IEE System Administration workbench. When configuring the import directory parameter in an import task template, enter the file path to the directory that IEE monitors for import files specific to this task. This parameter supports standard IEE macros. Reference as ($ImportDirectory) when configuring a task.
Import Entire File
Determines whether you can manually import an entire HHF file. For automatic imports, all data for each ID contained within the HHF file is imported.
The Import Entire File checkbox is not active (grayed-out) when editing the Task Template. Use the Task Scheduler to select this option.
Disabling this option allows you to import data from specific IDs in the HHF file. Once this option is disabled, and an HHF file is selected, the Select Recorder IDs to Import From File table is enabled on the template. This table lists all device IDs in the selected HHF file, as well as the Read Time and Device Type (HHF Format). The Direct HHF Import Task adapter imports any IDs in the file if the Import ID checkbox is checked.
Recorder Id Match
Determines whether the Recorder ID and the Device ID in the HHF file must match a configuration in IEE before importing data. Select this option to require that both the Recorder ID and the Device ID in the HHF file match a configuration in IEE before the data is imported. The Recorder ID field in the HHF file is matched against the External Recorder ID under the Recording Device entity. The Device ID field in the HHF file is typically matched against the Device ID under the Recording Device entity or Combined Meter entity.
Disable this option you are certain that the Recorder ID and Device ID are populated in HHF file Header records.
Device Id Match
Determines whether the Device ID in the HHF file will be matched against the Recorder ID in the HHF file or the Device ID in the HHF file.
This option is normally set to Device ID.
Delete Overlaps
Determines whether the Direct HHF import task deletes any overlapping data that has already been imported for this recording device. Since hand-held reads do not keep track of the exact time when the meter was last read, they often collect more data than is required. This parameter allows the imported data to be contiguous with the last set of imported data, as well as a start-read that can be associated with the beginning of this data.
This option is based on the latest Reading Group End Time. If the entire set of data being imported is prior to the latest Reading Group End Time, it is considered a complete overlap and no data is imported. The task is considered unsuccessful, and an error message displays at the end of the process.
If there is only a partial overlap of readings, the data is imported and the task is placed in the Warning state.
In the default template that is included with IEE, this parameter is disabled.
Ignore Channel Configuration Mismatch
Determines whether to ignore channels that do not have a valid mapping. Select this option when there are more channels collecting data, then mapped in IEE. Enabling this option ensures only channels defined for a meter are importing to IEE.
