Manage Instance

The Manage Instance dialog provides access to the list of application servers associated with the selected database instances. This window is accessed from the Instance List by selecting the menu item Instance>Manage Instance or by pressing the Manage Instance toolbar button.

On the Manage Instance window, application servers that are registered with the selected database instance are shown in groups. The two main menu items on this window are Group and Manage.

Manage Instance Menu

  • File.
  • Group.
  • Manage.
  • View Event Log.
  • View Config Log.

The commands for each menu are listed below.

File

  • Close. This command closes the Manage Instance window.

Group

Using the Group menu, the user can manage the assignment of application servers to server groups.

  • Mange Groups. This brings up a dialog that allows the user to add a new group to the list of server groups. Also, the user can select an existing group and delete it from the list of groups. When a group is deleted, all servers that are assigned to that group are set to Unassigned
  • Assign Server to Group. To assign a server, select the server in the list and select the menu item Group>Assign Server to Group. This will expand the menu to show the list of existing groups. Select the desired group.
  • Unassign Server from Group. To unassign a server, select the server in the list and select the menu item Group>Unassign Server from Group. This will change the assignment for the selected server to Unassigned.

Manage

  • Manage Tasks. This command opens the Manage Tasks dialog. This is the same dialog opened through the MetrixIDR client using the System, Manage Task command. The features of the Manage Tasks dialog is included in the Manage Tasks section.
  • Manage Alerts. This command opens the Manage Alerts dialog. This is the same dialog opened through the MetrixIDR client using the System, Manage Alerts command. The features of the Manage Tasks dialog is included in the Manage Alerts section.
  • Manage File IO Configuration. This command opens the Manage File IO Configuration dialog used for managing file input and output interfaces.
  • System Settings. This command opens the System Settings. This is the same dialog opened through the MetrixIDR client using the System, Settings command. The features of the Manage Tasks dialog is included in the System Settings section.
  • View Event Log. This command opens the Event Log. This is the same dialog opened through the MetrixIDR client using the System, View Event Log command. The features of the Manage Tasks dialog is included in the View Event Log section.
  • View Config Log. This command opens the Configuration Log. This is the same dialog opened through the MetrixIDR client using the System, View Config Log command. The features of the Manage Tasks dialog is included in the View Configuration Log section.

View

  • Refresh. This command refreshes the view.
  • Tiles. This command presents the list as tiles.
  • Icons. This command presents the list as icons.
  • List. This command presents the list as a list of names.
  • Details. This command presents the list with names and detailed information.
