Manage Security

MetrixIDR Security allows administrative users to create Security Roles and assign groups of users to each Security Role. Each Security Role is mapped to an Action Role and an Access Role. Action Roles are used to determine whether users are allowed to take specific types of actions, like adding or deleting a Meter. Access Roles are used to determine whether users can see or modify specific data elements.

The Manage Security option is on the System Menu and three areas.

• Manage Security Roles. This area shows the mapping of Security Roles to Action Roles and Access Rolls. Authorized users define Security Roles and assign users to Security Roles.
• Manage Action Roles. This dialog shows the actions that are authorized for each Action Role.
• Manage Access Roles. Dialog to manage Read Access and Write Access authorizations for items in the database (individual Meters, individual Meter Groups, …).

Action Roles and Access Roles are combined together as Security Roles. Each Security Role is assigned a single Action Role and a single Access Role. Individual Users or Active Directory Groups are assigned to a Security Role.
