Reset Endpoint

Use Reset Endpoint to reset the device's utility ID to zero and clear the tamper counter values. You must have Reset Endpoints permission to perform this command. The following enhanced security capable endpoint and multi-mode capable device types (operating in Mobile mode) support Reset Endpoint as described here:

  • Gas modules
    • 100G DLS
    • 100G ICS
    • all Intelis Gas Meters (operating in Mobile mode)
    • OpenWay Riva 500G (operating in Mobile mode)
    • Itron Cellular 500G (operating in Mobile mode)
    • Gen5 500G ERT Module (operating in Mobile mode)
  • Water modules
    • 100+ series
    • OpenWay Riva 500W ERT Module (operating in Mobile mode)
    • Itron Cellular 500W (operating in Mobile mode)
    • Gen5 500W ERT Module (operating in Mobile mode)
  • Telemetry modules
    • 100T-GGRD
    • 100T-HON
    • 100T-CP

The following diagram summarizes the procedure for 100G DLS, 100G ICS, or 100+ series endpoints and 100T-GGRD, 100T-HON, and 100T-CP telemetry modules:

The following diagram summarizes the procedure for the following multi-mode capable devices operating in Mobile mode: Intelis Gas Meters, OpenWay Riva 500G, Itron Cellular 500G Module, Gen5 500G ERT Module, OpenWay Riva 500W ERT Module, Itron Cellular 500W Module, and Gen5 500W ERT Module:

An FC200SR or FC300 handheld or a laptop with a 900MHz Belt-Clip Radio or Itron Mobile Radio is required to perform this function.

If the device's security status is command secured or fully secured (see Working with Enhanced Security Capable Endpoints), you must retrieve the necessary secure commands before you can execute this function (see Retrieving Secure Commands from the FDM Server).

If enhanced security is enabled on the module, your FDM security manager may have sent a key exchange command for the module along with the secure commands you retrieved from the server. If so, the mobile application executes the key exchange command before executing any of the secure commands. If you receive an error message indicating a security key mismatch, synchronize your mobile device with the server (see Synchronizing the Mobile Application with the Server) and then perform a Get Commands command (see Get Commands). If you still receive the message after performing these steps, contact an Itron customer support representative.

If enhanced security is enabled on the endpoint, FDM automatically initiates an open session when it runs this command. In this case, it prompts you upon completion of the command to indicate whether you want to close the session or let it remain open so you can perform additional tasks. If you let it remain open, the endpoint automatically closes after an hour or until you perform a Close Session command (see Close Session).
