Viewing configuration data

IEE does not store configuration data in rigid top-down hierarchies. Rather, entities are associated with one another through links. When you view configuration data in hierarchical trees, you select which entity to put at the top.

For example, you might view a service point with all of its associated channels and entities listed below. Then you can pivot on the customer entity associated with that service point, opening a new tab to view that customer with all of its associated entities listed below.

  1. Go to MDM Application Data > Advanced Configuration > Configuration Maintenance (Advanced).
  2. On the Query tab, Using the search utility for the entity to put at the top of the hierarchy.
  3. That entity and all of its associated entities appear in a tree.
    • Effective Start/End Dates show the time span that the current object configuration (such as account number, address) has been in place.
    • Link Dates show the time span that the selected object is associated with the object that appears directly above it in the tree.

Note: If you do not see any dates for an entity on the tree node, then the link and effective date ranges are the same. Until the link dates or effective dates are changed, the dates default to the beginning and end of time as defined by IEE.

If there are dates in parentheses but there is no prefix of "Effective" or "Link," then the link and effective date ranges are identical. For example: (10/21/2008 – 12/31/2070).

If there are dates in parenthesis with one prefix, then the parenthetical dates correspond to the labeled prefix. For example: "(Effective 10/21/2008 – 12/31/2070)" applies to the effective date. The link dates are visible in the tool-tip for that node. You can see the tool-tip by hovering over the node.

  4. To pivot to another view, right-click the entity to display at the top and select Create <entity> Tree.
