Deleting configuration data

IEE provides the functionality to delete a number of entities from the system, including service points, customers, accounts, and more. You can delete entities within IEE's Configuration Maintenance user interface by right-clicking an entity or using the Configuration XML.

Caution: Deleting an entity is permanent. While all deletions are captured in the Audit Log, there is no automated way to recover deleted data. Do not delete data required later.

Important! Be aware that deleting an entity may cause cascading effects. For instance, deleting an Account Service Point Channel also deletes the link between the Account Service Point Channel and its Account, and the link between the Account Service Point Channel and its Service Point Channel. Review the Deleting entities rules before deleting any configuration data, to know what is deleted with the entity you delete.

You can attempt to delete any configuration entity. However, if there is non-configuration information tied to the configuration entity, then you must first purge the dependent information. For example, before you can delete a Service Point Channel with readings, you must run a database script to archive and purge the readings (see the IEE Import/Export Adapters Guide (IEE v6x) or IEE Reference Guide (IEE v7x and greater) for database archive and purge instructions). You can delete service points that have assigned validation sets.

Only users with the Edit Database Entries/Delete Customer Configuration Security setup can delete entities. For more information, see Deleting an entity through configuration maintenance.
