Audit logging

Use the IEE audit logs to view changes made to configuration data over a selected time. The audit logs enable you to see which users changed data and the time the data changed. IEE provides multiple options for querying audit logs. To run audit queries go to Meter Data Management > Tools > Audit and select one of the tabs.

For information about user accounts and tracking when a user is logged in, refer to Users.

  • Records for object in time period. Allows you to select a particular configuration object (Customer, Account, Premises, Service Point, Meter, or Recording Device) and a date range to search for corresponding audit logs. IEE returns results that include all audit logs in the configuration object hierarchy that relate to the selected object.

For example, if you select a Premise as the configuration object, audit logs for the selected date range would include the selected Premise and any Customer, Account, Account Service Point Channel, Service Point Channel, Service Point, Interval Channel, Register Channel, Meters, and Recorders associated with that Premise.

  • Records for object and users in time period. Allows you to select a particular configuration object and date range and locate audit records that were modified by a particular user or several users.

For example, if you select a Customer configuration object and John Doe as a user, the audit log returns results for any companies that John Doe may have added or modified within the defined date range.

  • Records for users. Allows you to query for functions that were performed by a particular user or users, regardless of the configuration object or date range. Use Ctrl-Shift to select multiple users; however, you cannot select all users in the list.

For example, if you want to see everything that user John Doe has modified, select him as a user and then view the audit log results.

  • Records for operation, object, attribute in time period. Allows you to query for audit records based on a predetermined set of operations. You can also find operation records for a specific object or generalize to a particular object type. After selecting an object or object type, select an attribute of that object or object type to further narrow your search. For example, you can search for all audit logs for a particular address (the object) when the street address (the attribute) was updated (the operation) within the defined date range.
