Configuring user permissions

Service order management has administrator users and operator users. Only administrators have access to Service Order Settings and Event Filters. Operators have access to the Service Order Monitor.

The administrator role requires view and edit permissions. The operator role requires only view permission.

You can create several roles with different permission sets. For example, you can create one operator role that includes permission to cancel or close service orders individually and in bulk and another operator role that only allows users to cancel or close individual service orders.

Configuring administrator permissions

Use the following procedure to configure administrator permissions:

  1. Go to System Administration > Security Setup > Security Role.

  2. Select the Administrator role.

  3. In the Permissions tab, select Service Orders to grant all service order permissions. Administrators typically have all Service Orders permissions. However, you can grant limited permissions by clicking the plus sign to expand Service Orders and selecting individual permissions. At a minimum, administrators should have Edit Settings and View Service Orders.

    • Edit Settings. Allows the user to edit service order settings.

    • View Service Orders. Allows the user to view service orders.

  4. Click Save.

Configuring Operator Permissions

  1. From the System Administration workbench, expand Security Setup and click Security Role.

  2. Select a user role.

  3. In the Permissions tab, click the plus sign to expand Service Orders.

  4. Select the permissions to grant to this role. Typically, operators do not receive the Edit Settings permission. Operator roles that allow canceling or closing service orders typically do not include permission to cancel or close in bulk.

    • Edit Settings. Allows the user to edit service order settings.

    • View Service Orders. Allows the user to view service orders.

  5. Click Save.
