Introduction
High Impedance Detection is a distributed intelligence (DI) application that identifies poor electrical connections or “hot spots” on low voltage distribution conductors. These poor connections can occur at any location between the distribution transformer and the source connections to the meter. Proactively fixing high impedance situations when they are detected reduces customer complaints, improves outage performance, and alleviates dangerous situations that can lead to injury or fires.
