Instance Menu

The Instance menu contains commands that manage the data instances. These commands are described below.

Add Instance

The Add Instance command creates new database instances. When invoked, the command opens the Build Connection String dialog. In this dialog database instances are defined by specifying the database and schema name. The following fields are displayed in the Build Connection String dialog.

  • Define Database Type. Database instances may be Oracle or SQL Server databases. If the database is Oracle, the Oracle 10g Database checkbox need to be selected for Oracle 10g databases.
  • Database Server Name. This input is the database server name where the MetrixIDR database is located.
  • Authentication. Database authentication maybe designed using Windows Integrate Security or specifying the User Name and Password. Oracle databases require using a User Name and Password. SQL database may use either authentication method.
  • Database Name. This is the name of the MetrixIDR database.

After the database is specified, the user may test the connection to ensure that the database specifications are correct. The Test Connection button validates the database characteristics.

When complete, the OK button saves the instance and close the window.

Remove Instance

The Remove Instance butt.on removes a database instance from Server Manager. To remove an instance, select a database instanace and then select the Remove Instance command.

Manage Instance

The Manage Instance command opens the Manage Instance dialog. This dialog provides access to the list of application servers associated with the selected database instances. Details about the Manage Instance dialog are included in the Manage Instance section.

Start Instance

The Start Instance command starts the database instance on the Application Server.

Stop Instance

The Stop Instance command stops the database instance on the Application Server.
