Installing FDM

Installation of the FDM mobile application consists of the following tasks:

• If you are installing the application on a PC or a handheld that did not come with the FDM application files already installed, you must install them yourself. If you are installing FDM on a PC, you must download the FDM installation wizard from the Itron Access Web site and run it on the PC. If you are installing FDM on a handheld, you must download the FDM application files to a host computer and copy them to the handheld.

  If the FDM mobile application files came pre-installed on your handheld, you can skip the procedures in this guide that pertain to downloading them from the Itron Access site (see Downloading the FDM Application Files).

• Configure FDM to support any peripheral devices you plan to use with your mobile device. On handhelds and laptops, you can configure FDM to support the use of several Bluetooth devices, including the Itron Mobile Radio and an Intermec SF51 barcode scanner. On laptops, you can also configure FDM to support the 900MHz and OpenWay radios as USB devices.
