HAN Operations

To navigate to the HAN Operations feature, select Device Control Panel, log onto the device, and then go to Device Management > HAN Operations.

Benefits

Homeowners benefit from the HAN feature because they can monitor their energy usage and change usage patterns to conserve energy and save money.

The utility company can benefit in multiple ways from implementing HAN:

• Engaging with customers to improve energy efficiency.

• Communicating with load control switches to reduce large energy loads during peak demand periods.

• Providing solar inverter control programs to perform edge power quality management by controlling AC power frequency and voltage levels.

Security

IEEE 2030.5 uses internet security protocols including HTTPS and TLS 1.2. It provides for end-to-end security and meets National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) cybersecurity requirements. 2030.5 messages use a different encryption key than standard TLS packets which secure data while using existing standard TCP/IP processes and procedures.
