Application Menu
Synchronize (Ctrl+S) (both laptop and handheld)
Runs the synchronization process on demand. FDM normally performs this function automatically when you log on while the handheld or laptop is connected to the server. Synchronization requires the handheld or laptop to have a high-speed Internet connection to the server.
See Synchronizing the Mobile Application with the Server and Logging on to FDM.
Note: This menu command does not appear if you log on to FDM as a disconnected user in standalone mode. See Logging On and Off FDM.
Get Commands (both laptop and handheld)
This command appears on the menu only if the FDM mobile application is configured to support endpoints that use secure commands. It lets you specify the endpoints you want to work with and retrieve secure commands for them from the FDM server.
The handheld or laptop must have a high-speed Internet connection to the server for FDM to complete this command.
See Retrieving Secure Commands from the FDM Server.
Business Unit (Ctrl+1 . . . Ctrl+9) (both laptop and handheld)
Allows you to change the current business unit. This determines the endpoint types, meter types, and settings you can work with.
Note: This menu command appears only if the user name you entered in the logon window is associated with more than one business unit.
Minimize (handheld only) (Ctrl+M) (both laptop and handheld)
Minimizes the FDM window to a button on the Windows CE taskbar. To maximize the minimized window, click the Field Deployment Manager taskbar button, then log on again.
On a laptop, click Minimize in the window frame. Click the Field Deployment Manager button in the Windows taskbar to maximize it (you need not log on again).
Lock (Ctrl+K) (both laptop and handheld)
Locks FDM and opens the logon screen, requiring the user to enter a valid password to unlock the application.
Log Off (Ctrl+L) (both laptop and handheld)
Logs the current user off FDM and opens the logon window.
Exit (Ctrl+Q) (handheld only)
Closes FDM.
On a laptop, click Close in the window frame.
You can only exit FDM if you are allowed to by the permissions assigned to your user name.
