Reading Encoded-Register Water Endpoints (Formatted Read Systems Only)

Water meter endpoints may be attached to either encoded or pulser register types. When reading, checking, or reading tampers on an encoded register, the read returned may include a rounded reading.

Invensys/Sensus and Schlumberger/Neptune water meters have a far-right register dial that can have a value of 0 through 9, but the meter transmits only a 0 or a 5 in its endpoint reading, thereby rounding the reading up or down.

  • Invensys/Sensus Meters: If the last digit is 9, 0, 1, 2, 3, or 4, the meter rounds it to 0. If the last digit is 5, 6, 7, or 8, the meter rounds it to 5.

For example, if the actual physical reading is 123459, the meter transmits 123450. If the reading is 123458, the meter transmits 123455.

  • Schlumberger/Neptune Meters: If the last digit is 0, 1, 2, 3, or 4, the meter rounds it to 0. If the last digit is 5, 6, 7, 8, or 9, the meter rounds it to 5.

For example, if the actual physical reading is 123454, the meter transmits 123450. If the reading 123459, the meter transmits 123455.
