Overall Limits

Available from the main menu under Administration > MTS system settings, the Overall limits tab enables authorised users to view or manage the number of transactions of a specified type that can be sent to the market daily.

Important!  Only user personas with roles that include the "View Limits" grant can view this screen. Editing limits is available only to user personas with roles that include the "Create and Manage Limits" grant.

Caution:  If a limit is too low, a transaction batch document can become stuck in the system. A transaction batch document with more transactions than the configured limit will not be sent to the market.

The Overall limits tab displays a table that can be sorted by any column by clicking the desired column header. By default, the table is sorted by Transaction. The table consists of the following columns:

  • Transaction. The name of the transaction type.
  • Limit. A numeric value representing the maximum number of transactions that can be sent per day for the transaction type.
  • Current. The number of transactions of the specified type that have been sent to the Gateway since midnight.
  • Maximum last 30 days. The largest number of daily transactions of the specified type that were sent from the Gateway over the last 30 days. If a limit has been applied for the transaction type, then this value should not exceed the limit.
  • Active. Indicates whether the transaction type is limited. If the value is Inactive, then the system can send an unlimited number of the transactions of this type per day.
  • Actions (). This menu provides the following options for the transaction type on the selected row:
    • Edit. Opens an Edit overall limit dialog box. Enter a numerical Limit, select or deselect the Active check box, and click Update. The new settings will take effect after the Gateway is restarted.
    • Details. Takes you to the Transaction limits per participant screen for the selected transaction type, where you can define the maximum number of transactions that can be sent to each market participant. For more information, see Transaction Limits per Participant.
