Service point ID mapping
The service point ID in IEE MDUS can map to the logical device number or to the installation point ID in SAP. The logical device number ID is the preferred mapping.
The SAP logical device number is a unique ID that represents a service point instance in the configuration data. The logical device number is not specific to the physical meter. The logical device number does not change when the physical meter is replaced.
The SAP installation point represents a logical point at which service is provided to the customer. The installation point in SAP is similar to the service point in IEE MDUS. However, in SAP, you can assign multiple meters to a single installation point. In IEE MDUS, only one meter can be assigned to a service point.
The meter location and meter replication requests from SAP include the logical device number ID and the installation point ID for each meter in the request. The logical device number is unique for each meter instance. The installation point ID is not unique to the meter instance if multiple meters are assigned to the installation point.
When you map the logical device number in SAP to the service point ID in IEE MDUS, you preserve the one-to-one relationship between the meter and the service point.
The logical device number and the installation point ID are each stored in a user-defined attribute (UDA) on the service point, regardless of the mapping.
