Disable, enable, pause, or edit a server
You can disable a server to prevent it from running services. When a server is disabled, any services assigned to it fail over to their alternate servers. Enable a server to put it back into production.
Disabling, Enabling, Pausing, or Editing a Server
-
Go to System Administration > System Admin > Service Management.
-
Right-click a server and select an option:
-
Disable. Stops all services on the selected server. Failover is triggered (if alternate servers are configured) within one minute.
-
Enable. Allows services to run on the selected server. Any services that failed over are continued on the alternate server.
-
Pause. Allows you to temporarily stop the services without disabling them individually (the alternate method). It is easier to resume all services on a server after a pause than it is to re-enable each service individually.
Note: Pause also prevents failover, keeping the same machine assignment for each service as it starts up. If you disable a server, services that were assigned to it may failover to the alternate servers (if configured).
-
Resume. Restarts services on the selected server. Use Pause for a planned reboot or whenever you do not want failover services.
-
Restart all services. Stops and starts all services on the selected server.
-
Edit Server. Use this to change the server description or transition the server to or from a Service Mode server (if purchased). If editing a server, make changes, and then click Save.
