Configuring event filters
Use Event Filters filters to define the types of device events that trigger service order requests automatically when IEE receives the event.
-
Go to Service Orders > Event Filters.
-
Click the Add button at the bottom of the window. The Event Filter Properties dialog appears.
-
On the Properties tab, select the Enable Filter checkbox.
-
Enter a Name for this event filter. This name can also act as a description of the event filter. This is useful when you need to assign several device events to one event filter.
-
Select a Log Status radio button, which determines whether IEE logs Status and History, only Status, or only History. Status log messages indicate the type of event that occurred. History log messages indicate when the event occurred.
-
From the Code dropdown menu, select the Service Order Code to assign to service orders associated with this event filter. (Service order codes must be configured in Service Order Settings before they display in this list.)
-
From the Category dropdown menu, select the Service Order Category to assign to service orders associated with this event filter. (Service order categories must be configured in Service Order Settings before they display in this list.)
-
In the Filtered Events table, select the checkbox of each device event to include in this device filter.
-
Select the Event Age Limit. Enter a whole number and use the dropdown menu to select Days, Hours, Minutes, or Seconds. If the event occurred before than this age limit, IEE does not request a service order based on the event. For example, if you set the age limit to 1 day, IEE does not request service orders for device events that occurred 2 days previously.
-
If you also want to export the device events to a file or to Microsoft Message Queuing (MSMQ), select File or MSMQ under Filtered Event Destination > Export To and enter the path to the export directory. If you do not need to export the device events, leave this setting at None.
-
Select the Devices tab, and then select All Devices if you want these events to trigger a service order request no matter what device they occur on. Select Custom if you want to limit the service order requests to certain devices.
-
If you selected Custom, click Add to add devices. Enter a Service Point ID and click Lookup to see all devices associated with that service point.
Note: If you do not know the exact service point ID, click Search to open the IEE search dialog, which allows wildcards in the search string.
Select a device in the list and click Add to include it in the Event Filter's Devices list. To remove a device from the filter, select the item in the Event Filter's Devices list and click Remove.
-
Click OK to return to the Event Filter Properties.
-
Click OK create the event filter.
