Settlement configuration entities: Markets, points, and zones
In IEE, settlement comprises three configuration entities: settlement markets, settlement points, and settlement zones.
Settlement Markets
A settlement market contains information about the market regulator. It dictates zones within their territory, and utility providers and market participants have responsibilities based on settlement points within zones or have ties between zones.
A utility can have more than one market.
Settlement Points
A settlement point is the main point of data storage for Official Load Value along with contributing data to provide the data needed by the market.
In IEE, a settlement point is represented by a service point configuration. Each service point has its own unique settlement point.
Settlement Zones
A settlement zone is a geographical area containing many generators, interties, and/or substations. and indicated by the market. It is used to group settlement points or can be grouped into Independent System Operators (ISOs).
A zone can be defined as a new configuration, while ISO can be defined as a new configuration designated as a market to make it somewhat generic since ISO is a U.S. designation.
