Automated reading validation printing and reporting
IEE can automatically print validation reports that contain warnings and failures for data sent to validation from an import, editing, or aggregation process. See Validation statuses for details on what a warning or failure status means.
For failures and warnings that occur during live operations, the Validation Queue provides a to-do list of failed validation items for an operator. For example, the operator can use this list to fix accounts that have problematic data that isn't ready for billing purposes. See Validation Queue for more information.
Use the following procedure for setting up the print options and task entries for automated printed and reporting:
-
Go to System Administration > Security Setup > Workgroup.
-
On the Workgroup tab, click the name of a Workgroup. Configuration categories for that workgroup appear at the bottom of the window. Scroll down to the Validation section. Expand this category by clicking the plus icon, if necessary.
-
Select an option:
-
Default Printer ID. Defines the printer that is to print the validation report. Printers are defined in the system at System Administration > Printers and the defined printers are listed in the Printers pane at the lower right of the Workgroup tab. The checked printers in this list are assigned to the workgroup that is currently selected. From the list of checked printers, the default is selected using the dropdown list in the Default Printer ID row.
-
Print Validation Report. Defines when to automatically print a report on the designated printer if a warning or failure is generated. Choices are Never, Warn or Fail, and Fail. The default value is Never.
Caution: Be careful about automatically sending warnings and failures to a printer as a mistake in a rule's configuration could result in a large number of warns or fails; which can result in large print jobs. The default for the option to automatically send warnings and failures to a printer is Never.
-
Save Validation Report. Defines when to automatically save a report to the designated validation report directory if the Validation Engine generates a warning or failure. The valid values are as follows. Never, Warn or Fail, and Fail. The default value is Never.
-
Validation Report Directory. Defines where to save validation reports.
