Estimation overview

The goal of the estimation process is to replace invalid data with estimated data that is as accurate as possible. Estimated data must pass validation before it is saved in the IEE database. IEE provides automatic estimation as part of the reading validation process. IEE also allows you to perform estimation manually.

Automatic estimation is configured by associating a set of estimation routines with a service point channel. When automatic estimation is enabled, IEE runs the estimation routines for that channel on any data that fails validation. Automatic estimation is enabled by the Route to Queue (Do Not Auto-Estimate) parameter in the validation rules included in the validation set.

After automatic or manual estimation, IEE validates the data again. Any estimated data that does not pass this secondary validation process is considered invalid and an item is created in the reading validation queue.
