System settings

System settings define the values for many global IEE parameters. Only users with administrator permissions can change system setting values.

The default values are not necessarily the recommended or optimal settings for your specific IEE implementation. IEE is highly customizable and typically requires administrators to configure several system settings to enable or disable functionality, to achieve optimal system performance, or to set default directories for importing and exporting data.

For example, system settings that define threads count and chunk sizes, along with the number of configured available task runners, define the amount of memory and resources that are consumed on your servers. It is difficult to predict how changes to threads count and chunk sizes affect performance given the trade-offs between application and database servers and their respective cores, memory, and processing power. Only change chunk size and threads count settings in small increments and while closely monitoring baselines.

Not every setting has a recommended or default value. Additionally, default values may change with subsequent releases. Tune the system setting values based on your scalability needs.

IEE groups system settings by category, such as AMI Communications. Select the category from the dropdown menu to show all of the available system settings for the selected category. You can view or change the values.

  • Click Categorized () to display parameters by function.

  • Click Alphabetic () to display parameters in an alphabetical list.

  • Click any system setting parameter to view its short description below the list of parameters. For more details about any parameter, go to the specific system setting category topic.

  • If you change a value, click Save () to implement the changes.
