Managing security groups
Use security groups to limit users' access to only the meter data that they are authorized to view. For Web UI, utilities assign specific customer, account and service point entities to a security group to ensure end-use customers only have access to their own data.
Typically, utilities create one security group per customer. When you create the security group, you must also create at least one company administrator user account for that security group.
Users are then assigned to these security groups. Subsets of a customer's service points may also be established and assigned to users to further limit access to meter data within the company.
Note: For end users with weather or real time price data linked to their meters, create a Common Customer in the IEE Rich Client to which all weather and price service points can be related. Next, create a security group containing that Common Customer, and assign that security group to all users who need access to any weather or price data. Without this security group assignment, the end user will not be able to access weather or price data, even if the service point is assigned to the related premise.
