Extrapolating interval data

At the end of the billing window, if actual registers are not available, interval data can be extrapolated forward to the start or end of the billing window, and registers calculated from the interval data for billing. This extrapolated interval data represents estimates beyond the last data received by the meter, with no bounding register. Extrapolated interval data can be created for subsets of customers, such as in very specific use cases like blocked access.

The interval data extrapolation process is triggered when the Reading Quality Level field in Meter Data Management > Tools > Estimation > Estimation Sets is set to Low, which allows both actual and estimated readings to be used in estimation. (The High setting allows estimation of actual reads only.) SAP provides a transaction, such as a register group, VEE code, register notification, or other that triggers the interval data extrapolation process and sends a VE code using standard MDUS. The estimated registers include a reading quality level indicator when passed through the interface so that SAP can track the duration of the estimation.
