Configuring the VDP task

  1. Go to System Operations > Task Management > Task Scheduler.

  2. From the Task Type dropdown menu, select Validation Detection Process.

  3. Select the Task Template from the dropdown menu.

  4. Configure the task specific parameters:

Filter by. Select this checkbox to activate the parameters in this section and define the filter criteria for manually running the VDP on a meter or service point.

Entity Type. Defines the entity type. From the dropdown menu, select a meter or a service point. The following options display depending on whether you select a meter or a service point:

Meter ID. Defines the unique identified of a meter. Enter a meter ID or use the search dialog.

Service Point ID. Defines the unique identifier of a service point. Enter a service point ID or use the search dialog.

  5. Under Filter by Meter Effective Date Range, configure the following parameters. Use this filter if you are manually running the VDP on a meter or service point.

Time Period. Defines the time span of the data to include in the task for exports, reports, and other tasks. Some common time periods include: Today, Yesterday, Month, Month to Date, Week, Week to Date, Year, and Year to Date.

Start Date. Defines the start date of the baseline calculation. Typically, this is the first day of operation. If this value is not properly set, it may default to the beginning of time, and Like Days may calculate as far back as historic data is available. This will overwhelm the LikeDayAlgorithmDate table and lead to slower processing.

End Date. Defines the most recent day from which to include data in the task.

Filter by. Select this checkbox to activate this section and define the filter criteria for manually running the VDP on a meter or service point.

  6. Under Filter By, configure the following parameters:

Validation Template. Use the dropdown menu to select a validation template. You can select the default template or select one you previously created. Refer to the IEE Online Help for additional information on creating validation templates.

Revalidate Gaps. Determines whether to revalidate gaps. Use the dropdown menu to select a value. The valid values are as follows.

    • Active. Select this value to detect gaps when the meter is active. Gaps found when the meter is inactive are not re-validated.

    • Both active and inactive. Select this value to detect all gaps. Gaps found when the meter is active and inactive are re-validated.

    • Do not fill gaps. Select this value if you want to detect configuration changes only. When selected, IEE does not revalidate gaps.

    • Inactive meters. Select this value to detect gaps when the meter is inactive. Gaps found when the meter is active are not re-validated.

    ClosedRevalidate Configurations

Determines whether to revalidate post-processing configuration changes. Select this checkbox to enable this parameter.

    ClosedFilter by Transaction Date

Determines whether to use the date filter. Select this checkbox to activate the Transaction Date selection box. The transaction date allows you to specify a past-date to find configuration changes to revalidate.

    ClosedTransaction Days

Defines the number of days back to search for configuration changes. The default is 30. Enter the number of days in whole numbers. For example, if you want to consider any configuration changes made within the last 5 days, enter 5.

    ClosedRevalidate Window Start Days

Defines the beginning of the window when VDP re-validates gaps and configuration changes. VDP ignores gaps and configuration changes that are effective earlier than today minus this number of days ago. The default value is 10 days; configuration changes that went into effect more than 10 days ago are not re-validated. Configuration changes with meter effective start dates before the window-start are ignored.

    ClosedRevalidate Window End Days

Defines the end of the window when VDP re-validates gaps and configuration changes. The default value is 1 day; gaps and configuration changes effective between the Revalidate Window Start Days setting and midnight of today are re-validated. If this value is set to zero, then gaps and configuration changes effective between the Revalidate Window Start Days and now (the current VDP run time) are re-validated. Configuration changes with meter effective start dates after the end of the window are ignored.
