Service point entity
The service point entity represents the logical point of service delivery to a customer. The service point might not be at the exact point where the energy is metered (due to the impracticality of metering at high voltages). However, it is the point where the energy is considered to be delivered to the customer. After all ratios and multipliers have been applied to the metered energy data, the data represents the energy that is delivered at the service point. The service point ID acts as a constant identifier and provides a consistent mechanism for identifying a given point that is unaffected by metering and account changes over time.
In the utility industry, a service point is also called a point of service, delivery point, or point of delivery.
