Which readings are validated?
IEE validates all data entering IEE and any changes made to the data after it is received by IEE. Validation occurs as part of the import process before the readings are stored in the IEE database. IEE performs validation the same way whether the readings are arriving through the standard readings import (SRI) process or the AMI readings import (ARI) process.
IEE validates the following data:
-
Data imported from collection systems or other external systems, including MDEF import, ASCII import, and XML import tasks.
-
Data imported through the AMI readings import process.
-
Data imported through Service Mode.
-
Data created by the editing process.
-
Data created by the estimation process.
-
Data created as stored calculation results through aggregation.
-
Data sent to IEE through a web service.
IEE validates interval data and register data independently of each other. Each type of data can be validated whether the other type of data is present or not present. Some interval validation rules use register data as supporting information. However, the register values themselves are not validated unless you assign validation rules to the register channels.
If the validation is triggered by the editing process or manual validation, the reading validation process creates a new version of the data. The original reading is saved as an older version with a status of Fail.
Manual validation allows you to preview validation results before saving them to the database. For example, use manual validation to investigate the effect of applying different validation rules before you change the data.
