Two week like-day historical estimation
Two-Week Like Day Historical replaces intervals that need estimation with data from like-days. IEE selects these like days from either the two weeks immediately preceding the intervals to estimate or from the same two weeks from the previous calendar year.
For example, if the data needing estimation is Tuesday data and the Tuesday of the prior week is considered a like-day, then IEE uses the corresponding intervals from Tuesday of the prior week.
If the data from Tuesday of the prior week is missing, then IEE uses the data from the Tuesday of two weeks prior.
This estimation routine only uses reference data that has passed validation or that has been manually accepted.
Estimation Day |
Like Days (Current Year) |
---|---|
Monday |
First lookup is Monday of the prior week. Second lookup is Monday of 2-weeks prior. |
Tuesday |
First lookup is Tuesday of the prior week. Second lookup is Wednesday of the prior week. Third lookup is Thursday of the prior week. |
Wednesday |
First lookup is Wednesday of the prior week. Second lookup is Tuesday of the current week*. Third lookup is Tuesday of the prior week. Fourth lookup is Thursday of the prior week. |
Thursday |
First lookup is Thursday of the prior week. Second lookup is Wednesday of the current week.* Third lookup is Wednesday of the prior week. Fourth lookup is Tuesday of the current week.* Fifth lookup is Tuesday of the prior week. |
Friday |
First lookup is Friday of the prior week. |
Saturday |
First lookup is Saturday of the prior week. |
Sunday |
First lookup is Sunday of the prior week |
Holiday |
First lookup is Sunday of the current week. Second lookup is Sunday of the prior week. |
* Estimation looks at data of the current week from yesterday or two days prior. Such data is considered historical because it already happened and it is considered a like-day. |

Following a meter swap or meter reprogramming that involves an interval length change, these estimation routines consider both larger-to-smaller and smaller-to-larger interval length changes when calculating the interval estimate. All interval lengths are supported. For example:
-
Historical interval with 15-minute interval length is chopped by three to produce a 5-minute interval estimate.
-
Historical interval with 30-minute interval length is chopped by six to produce a 5-minute interval estimate.
-
Two historical intervals with 15-minute interval length are rolled up to produce a 30-minute interval estimate.
Alternative statuses that can be applied to these changed interval lengths are configured in System Settings > Validation and Estimation > Estimation > Alternate Statuses to Mark for Estimation. When the Two-Week Like Day Historical routine processes an estimation that involves an interval length change, the statuses specified in this system setting will be used instead of the default Statuses to Mark defined in the estimation routine of an estimation set. If the estimation does not involve an interval length change, the default Statuses to Mark defined in the estimation routine of an estimation set will be used.
