Estimation sets

An estimation set is a collection of estimation routines that are organized into a hierarchy. Estimation sets also determine general estimation behaviors for all routines in the set, such as whether to scale readings, perform peak shaving, or create queue items for estimated reads that pass validation.

IEE runs each estimation routine in the order defined by the estimation set. Each successive estimation routine runs on any data that was not estimated by previous routines. Estimation sets allow you to include several instances of the same estimation routine at different points in the set, with or without different parameter values. After all estimation routines have run, IEE runs the scaling and peak shaving processes if you enabled them in the estimation set.

Estimation sets are assigned to service point channels through service point programs. IEE runs the assigned estimation set automatically after initial validation. After estimation, any estimated data runs through validation again. Validation of estimated data is sometimes called secondary validation.

When you perform manual estimation or edit data, IEE allows you to use an estimation set that is not assigned to the service point channel.

Create any number of estimation sets. However, a maximum of one estimation set can be assigned to each service point channel.

Viewing estimation sets requires the Estimation Set Viewer workgroup permission. Creating, modifying, and deleting estimation sets requires the Estimation Set Administrator workgroup permission.
