Controlling a meter remotely
Use this procedure to remotely control a meter. This is available for Intelis Gas Meters, OpenWay Riva Gas Disconnect devices, Gas Gate Remote Disconnect (GGRD) gas meters, and 100W+ and 500W water endpoints with a connected water control valve (WCV).
-
On the Account Page's Service Point Details panel, select the Meter tab.
-
Select an action from the Actions dropdown menu.
-
Arm. Select this to set the meter to the Armed state. Once armed, a utility worker will be able to open the meter. This option is available if the Meter Status is Closed.
-
Connect. Select this to open the meter's valve so that gas or water can flow. This option is available if the Meter Status is Restricted or Disconnected.
-
Connect Override. Select this to connect the meter. This connect takes priority over the network without being added to the queue. This option is available if the Meter Status is Closed or Armed.
-
Disconnect or Regular Disconnect. Select this to close the meter's valve so that gas or water cannot flow. This disconnect is added to a queue for the collection engine. This option is available if the Meter Status is Restricted, Connected, Open, or Armed.
-
Emergency Disconnect or Disconnect Override. Select this to disconnect the meter. This disconnect takes priority over the network without being added to the queue. This option is available if the Meter Status is Open or Armed.
-
Restrict. Select this to partially close the meter valve so that only some gas or water can flow. This option is available if the Meter Status is Connected or Disconnected.
-
-
(Emergency Disconnect/Disconnect Override or Emergency Connect only) Select the Acknowledge checkbox.
Depending on the action you selected, a confirmation dialog appears.
-
Review the information contained in the dialog, and click to confirm your selected action.
The Meter Status changes to Pending while the request is processed.
Itron Analytics provides a status (in the gray meter dial area of the Meter tab and as a notification) depending on the type of request:
-
For Connect requests, you will receive a message that the connection either succeeded or failed. Connection requests can take up to two minutes to complete.
-
For a Restrict request, a success or failure message can take thirty minutes or longer because the request requires a secondary approval process in OpenWay Collection Manager (OWCM). When Itron Analytics receives a response from Action Manager, you will receive a message that the restriction either succeeded or failed.
-
For a Disconnect request, a success or failure message can take thirty minutes or longer because the request requires a secondary approval process in OWCM. When Itron Analytics receives a response from Action Manager, you will receive a message that the restriction either succeeded or failed. If the disconnection was successful, the service point status is set to Inactive, and date/time stamp for the disconnect is displayed.
