Viewing the service point's consumption on a chart or table

The Account page's Consumption panel displays the events, usage, flow, and weather for the selected service points over time during the selected date range. This can help you distinguish between normal and abnormal use. For example, high temperatures combined with low precipitation may naturally lead to higher water consumption, especially if the peer group is experiencing a similar increase. Or, flow rate that never reaches zero and corresponding events may indicate a leak.

Tip: If a service point that was not attached to the selected account for the entirety of the selected date range is selected, this panel will not display any information.

  • Chart and table features:

    • Clicking View as table () changes the presentation from a chart to a table. Clicking View as chart () changes the presentation from a table to a chart. By default, this panel is a chart.

    • Clicking the Panel Interval tool dropdown menu changes the interval of data that appears in the panel. The available options depend on the page's selected date range.

      • Hourly. Select this to display the data in hourly intervals. This interval is only available for durations of seven days or less and when the meter reports hourly data. This interval is not available for register-only meters.

      • Daily. Select this to display the data in daily intervals. This interval is only available for durations of 90 days or less. This interval is not available for register only-meters.

      • Weekly. Select this to display the data in weekly intervals. This interval is only available for durations between 8 and 365 days. This interval is not available for register-only meters.

      • Monthly. Select this to display the data in monthly intervals. This interval is only available for durations of 31 days or more.

      • Quarterly. Select this to display the data in quarterly intervals. This interval is only available for durations of 91 days or more.

      • Yearly. Select this to display the data in yearly intervals. This interval is only available for durations of 366 days or more.

    • Clicking Collapse ( or ) collapses the panel so that only the title bar is visible. Clicking Expand ( or ) expands the collapsed panel to the normal view.

    • Clicking Fullscreen () expands the panel so that it takes up the entire window. Clicking Panel () reduces the fullscreen panel to the normal view.

    • An exclamation mark in a hollow triangle () and a hollow bar indicates estimated usage. For more information on estimation, see "Itron Analytics Estimation" in the Itron Analytics Admin Portal Help.

    • An exclamation mark in a solid triangle () indicates missing reads. If there is no icon and there appears to be no data, hover near the X-axis for a tooltip showing zero (or very small) usage. In the Fixed Network collection engine, you can fill missing data by performing an On-Demand Interval Data Read. For more information, see "Performing an On-Demand Interval Data Read" in the latest Network Collection Engine User Guide.

  • Chart-only features:

    • (Service points with compound meter only) Clicking Chart filter tool () changes the data that appears on the chart.

    • Clicking data layers shows or hides the data types (for example, usage, flow, or events) on the chart. The following data layers are available:

      • Events. The analytic events reported by the service points, such as tamper, usage on inactive, reverse flow, or meter temperature.

        • Metered Leak (). A Metered Leak event occurs when a service point had minimum flow above a specified threshold for a specified number of days. This item only appears when a water service point is selected.

        • No Usage on Active (). A No Usage on Active event occurs when an active service point had usage below a specified threshold for a specified number of days. The usage also must be a positive value.

        • Reverse Flow (). A Reverse Flow event occurs when a service point had flow below a specified threshold for a specified number of days. This item only appears when a water service point is selected.

        • Tamper (). Tamper analytic events are triggered by associated device events in the Common Events Format (CEF) file or OpenWay Collection Manager (OWCM) API. For example, a cut cable device event would trigger a Tamper analytic event.

        • Usage on Inactive (). A Usage on Inactive event occurs when an inactive service point had usage above a specified threshold for a specified number of days.

        • Low Battery (). A Low Battery event occurs when the device's battery is low. Itron recommends replacing low batteries.

        • Meter Temperature (). A Meter Temperature event occurs when a threshold on the meter indicates that the meter's temperature is too cold or hot to function.

        • Backflow (). Backflow analytic events are triggered by backflow device events in the Common Events Format (CEF) file or OWCM API.

      • Usage. The total usage of the service points. If a service point with a traditional compound meter or fire line compound meter is selected, usage layers for each portion of the compound meter will be selectable. Usage layers are enabled by default. This layer appears on the left y-axis.

      • Peers. The average total usage of peers of the service points. Peers are only available for Residential account type. The peer group is five or more service points with the same meter size, zip code, commodity usage type, and, if possible, customer-selected options in the Customer Portal (such as pools and irrigation).

      • Flow. Data points are plotted on the graph only for service points which have actual recorded data. These layers appear on the right y-axis.

        • Flow Min. The minimum flow reported by the service points.

        • Flow Avg. The average flow reported by the service points.

        • Flow Max. The maximum flow reported by the service points.

      • Weather.

        • Temperature. The temperature reported by the weather station associated with the service points. When gas service points are selected, the low temperature is displayed. When water service points are selected, the high temperature is displayed. This layer appears on the right y-axis.

        • (Water service points only) Precipitation. The precipitation reported by the weather station associated with the service points. This layer appears on the right y-axis.

    • Hovering over a point in the chart displays tooltips with additional data.

    • Clicking data in the chart opens the Consumption Drilldown chart. The Consumption Drilldown chart displays a detailed view of a data interval from the Consumption chart. For specific intervals of time where unusual consumption could be occurring, use the Consumption Drilldown chart to see what happened at a smaller scale. For example, if you see unusual patterns on a day in the Consumption chart, click that day to view hourly data in the Consumption Drilldown chart.

    • The following icons provide additional context:

      • An exclamation mark in a square () indicates that there is a value on the chart that is either very small (10% or less of the maximum usage) and thus not visible, or that there is a zero value because of roll up. If a value on the chart meets conditions that cause it to be labeled with a different icon, such as estimated, missing, or negative reads, then this icon does not appear.

      • An exclamation mark in a circle () indicates negative values.

      • A dashed line indicates estimated flow. For more information on estimation, see "Itron Analytics Estimation" in the Itron Analytics Admin Portal Help.

  • Table-only features:

    • Clicking Export Data () and selecting Export to CSV exports the table's data as a CSV file.
