Editing Heart Beat settings

Heartbeat events are processed by Itron Analytics to verify full functionality during Distributed Intelligence deployment. The Heartbeat agent is installed on a small subset of the meter population during deployment and is uninstalled after functionality has been confirmed.

  1. On the Electric page, click the Heartbeat tab.

  2. In Check for heartbeat every, define how often Itron Analytics will check for heartbeat events. The default value is 1 hour.

    1. Enter a value for the frequency.

    2. Select a time duration (Minutes, Hours, or Days) from the dropdown menu.

  3. In the Time to wait before event creation dropdown menu, select the grace period for heartbeat events. If there is a response from the device within the grace period, a closed heartbeat event is created. If there is not a response from the device within the grace period, an open heartbeat event is created. Available choices are 1.5, 2, 3, 4, and 5 times the heartbeat frequency. The default value is 1.5.

Tip: The heartbeat frequency is defined in the Heartbeat agent's configuration.

  4. (Optional) Clear the Enforce minimum wait time to one hour checkbox to allow the time before event creation to be less than one hour.

  5. In Clear data older than, define how long historical data will be kept. The default value is 1 day.

    1. Enter a value for the frequency.

    2. Select a time duration (Hours or Days) from the dropdown menu.

  6. Click Update.
