Coincidence Tab
The Coincidence Tab is used to view and edit end-use coincidence factors and high-load hour fractions. These parameters are used for all uses and technologies other than heating and cooling to translate monthly energy variables into explanatory variables for the Peak and HLH models.
- Coincidence Factors. The SAE variables for Peak models are modified to account for the differential coincidence of the end uses with the peak hour in each month. For example, in summer months, lighting loads have relatively low coincidence with peak values. In winter, lighting loads have relatively high coincidence with peak values. As a result, lighting efficiency improvements have a bigger impact on winter peaks than on summer peaks. Since heating and cooling impacts on peaks are modeled directly, coincidence factors are only required for uses in XOther and for new technologies. The factors represent the end-use load at the customer peak hour relative to the average hourly load in each month.
- HLH Fractions. The SAE variables for high load hour (HLH) models are modified to account for the differential split across end uses between HLH and LLH time buckets. For example, lighting loads have a relatively low HLH fraction for the residential class, reflecting night time usage. Since heating and cooling impacts on HLH energy are modeled directly, HLH Fractions are only required for uses in XOther and for New Technologies. The fractions represent the share of energy that falls in the HLH time periods within each month.
The Coincidence Tab contains a standard list grid, with expansion controls [+] and [-] for each row. When a row is not expanded, there is one line for each set of factors, and that line shows the name of the set (Coincidence Factor ID), the Description field, and a set of Custom fields that can be used to sort and filter the list.
The toolbar on the Coincidence Tab allows the user to Add, Delete, and Duplicate factor sets. Additional controls are available to Filter the list or to change the column order. Rows can also be added or modified through the Import Wizard, using:
- Tools > Import > Long Term SAE End Use > Coincidence Factor List
When a row is expanded by hitting the [+] button for that row, an embedded list is shown that contains the monthly data for the selected row. The embedded list has one group of rows for each end use in XOther and each new technology in the system, and should have 12 monthly values for each use. The embedded list contains the following fields:
- EndUseKey. The name of the end use.
- Mnth. The numeric value for the month.
- Factor. The coincidence factor for the end use and month.
- HLH Frac. The high load hour fraction for the end use and month.
The embedded list has standard functionality to drag a column into the Group-By bar and to then use the bar to filter the data, for example by selected end use or by selected year.
The embedded data list can be used to edit data, but this must be done one row at a time. These values can also be edited or augmented through the Import Wizard, using:
- Tools > Import > Long Term SAE End Use > Coincidence Factor Data
