Forecast Monitor Actions
The following common actions are available on the Forecast Monitor Module.
Insert Contributor
The Insert Contributor action includes special configuration characteristics. These configuration options are described below.
Assignments Tab. This tab defines the Concept Type (e.g., Forecast Concept, Confidence Concept, Archive Concept), Concept (e.g., Model, POE 10, POE 90), Forecast Type, Node ID, and default forecast for the Zone. At least one concept type must be assigned for each Zone. Only those concepts defined for a Zone appear in the Forecast Monitor Forecast View for that zone. The available concepts are described below.
- Forecast Concept. A forecast concept represents the load forecast. At least one forecast concept must be assigned per zone. When assigning a Forecast Concept, if the NodeID is null, the forecast is computed as the sum of the contributor forecasts. If the NodeID is not null, and the Zone has contributors, the assigned NodeID is the target for top down calibration.
- Confidence Concept. A confidence concept represents the confidence bounds for the forecast. Confidence concepts are passed to Forecast Monitor as a multiplier or adder. The multiplier or adder is applied to the forecast so that the confidence bounds are displayed as a level series.
- Archive Concept. An archive concept represents the archived forecast. Only archives can be assigned as archive concepts.
Contributors Tab. This tab defines the Forecast Type, Contributor ID, and Weight for each of the contributors to the Zone. This is only required for Zones that have other Zones as contributors (e.g., the System zone).
Validations Tab. This tab defines forecast validation properties. Validations may be applied for missing forecasts, max/min thresholds, forecast errors and forecast differences. The user can specify the number of intervals to apply the validation. Actions include Log Error, Log Warning, Install Override, Disable Auto-Publish, Skip Import to Monitor, and Exclude From Publish. The available validation concepts are described below.
- Missing Forecast: Executes an action when the forecast is missing. Num Intervals text box setting defaults to (All), executing the selected action if any intervals are missing. Setting Num Intervals to 5 results in the executing the action when 5 or more intervals are missing.
- Max Forecast: Executes an action when a forecast reaches a designated maximum value set by the user in the value text box. Num Intervals does not apply to this validation. The entire forecast period is validated.
- Min Forecast: Executes an action when a forecast reaches a designated minimum value set by the user in the value text box. Num Intervals does not apply to this validation. The entire forecast period is validated.
- Forecast Error 1: Executes an action when the Forecast Error (Published – Actual) exceeds a specified value. The specified value must be entered as a level (e.g. MW) value, not as a percentage. Num Intervals defaults to All, but can be set for a specific number of intervals in the history to check.
- Forecast Error 2: Same as Forecast Error 1. Included for a second validation/action occurrence.
- Forecast Error 3: Same as Forecast Error 1. Included for a third validation/action occurrence.
- Forecast Error Ramp 1: Executes an action when the Forecast Error Ramp exceeds a specific value. The specified value must be entered as a level (e.g. MW) value, not as a percentage. Num Intervals defaults to All, but can be set for a specific number of intervals in the history to check.
- Forecast Error Ramp 2: Same as Forecast Error Ramp 1. Included for a second validation/action occurrence.
- Forecast Error Ramp 3: Same as Forecast Error Ramp 1. Included for a third validation/action occurrence.
- Forecast Diff 1: Executes an action when the Forecast Difference (Current Forecast – Published) exceeds a specified value. The specified value must be entered as a level (e.g. MW) value, not as a percentage. Num Intervals defaults to All, but can be set for a specific number of intervals forward to check.
- Forecast Diff 2: Same as Forecast Diff 1. Included for a second validation/action occurrence.
- Forecast Diff 3: Same as Forecast Diff 1. Included for a third validation/action occurrence.
Forecast Percent Diff 1: Executes an action when the Forecast Percent Difference exceeds a specified value. Num Intervals defaults to All, but can be set for a specific number of intervals forward to check.
Forecast Percent Diff 2: Same as Forecast Percent Diff 1. Included for a second validation/action occurrence.
Forecast Percent Diff 3: Same as Forecast Percent Diff 1. Included for a third validation/action occurrence.
- Forecast Diff Ramp 1: Executes an action when the Forecast Diff Ramp exceeds a specified value. The specified value must be entered as a level (e.g. MW) value, not as a percentage. Num Intervals defaults to All, but can be set for a specific number of intervals forward to check.
- Forecast Diff Ramp 2: Same as Forecast Diff Ramp 1. Included for a second validation/action occurrence.
Forecast Diff Ramp 3: Same as Forecast Diff Ramp 1. Included for a third validation/action occurrence.
